My Bio
My deviant name comes from a phrase in an essay by JRRTolkien regarding sub-creation:

"We make in our measure and in our derivative mode, because we are made: and not only made, but made in the image and likeness of a Maker." (On Fairy Stories)

I believe that "[t]he true work of art is but a shadow of the divine perfection." (Michaelangelo) Thus I have always admired realism. I have come to enjoy more abstract works of art for their creative qualities that may better reflect true sub-creation, rather than mere imitation. I hope my art will reflect this view a little better someday.

My first horse drawing was with Crayolas on the back of that ugly accordian-style printer paper with green lines and perforated edges that had to be removed which was so commonly used in the late 80s. Since then, I've never put the pencil down, except for the last few years during which I've been in graduate school. As a home school student, I took several art lessons thr
